Scenes from the Inaugural Research in Editing and Publishing Conference

Big thanks to Holly Baker and the REAP team for planning and hosting an outstanding inaugural conference at Brigham Young Universityin Provo last week!

I think the mark of a strong conference is its ability to create a space for professionals to engage with ideas about their field while also making meaningful connections that extend beyond the conference itself, and REAP certainly accomplished both. REAP's focus on increasing the visibility of research in editing and publishing is essential as E&P studies continues to grow as a field within higher education.

While there I had the opportunity to share my research on the proposition of editorial value in hybrid publishing and I’ve made the slides accessible for my presentation, “Hybrid Publishing and the Boundaries of Editorial Discipline: Editorial Labor, Authorial Agency, and the Mediation of Value.”

I’m excited to see how this conference develops in the years ahead, and I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to make my first trip to Utah learn from some outstanding scholars and professionals, and meet so many people doing really interesting work.
